Soon-to-be graduates from the University of Sussex’s Product Design degree displayed their ingenious creations at one of the UK’s largest environmental and ecologically based industry shows, the EcoTechnology Show, at the Brighton Centre on Friday (14 June) and Saturday (15 June).
Their stand, presented to industry and the public, displayed their final-year major projects with prototype products and associated creative and technical media.
Among those exhibiting were:
- Tala Jarallah with a new product aimed at providing a 'personal space' in busy environments, such as on public transport
- Scott Mighall, whose product is an toy called Cachoo that encourages imaginative play and defies the notion of a limited lifespan for childhood toys with emotional attachment
- James Morgan, whose recycling bin for small living spaces such as flats aims to ease the process of getting recyclable material from the home to the recycling point
- Yamar Dione, who has designed a protective slip-on garment for individuals suffering and living with the day to day vulnerability of renal failure
- Benjamin Beagley, who showed off 'It’s Bedtime Bear' - a product to improve and monitor sleep, for children with autistic needs.
Product Design tutor Mark Jenkins said: “The show’s two days were very busy and there was a lot of interest in the students’ innovative and imaginative design concepts. Several new leads were established and the show prepared us well for the forthcoming New Designers show that we are also exhibiting at in early July.”
The students will graduate at the summer ceremonies this July.
Full details of all the final-year products can be found on the Design 2013 web site.
