Attendance up at annual Postgraduate Open Day

A bit of snow and ice wasn’t enough to put off visitors to the Postgraduate Open Day on Wednesday (23 January).
Despite the adverse weather conditions, visitor numbers were up 19% on last year, at 470. And bookings were up 40%, so the chances are that visitor numbers would have been higher had it not been for the weather.
Only one-third of those who attended the Open Day, which took place in Bramber House, were current Sussex students.
Terry O'Donnell, Senior Postgraduate Liaison Officer, says: “The fact that such a high number of non-Sussex students made it on to campus despite the weather suggests a considerable degree of commitment to undertaking postgraduate study.”
The wide range of presentations and subject talks were well attended and the student funding desk was busy throughout the day.
The University’s new scholarship schemes for taught postgraduate students attracted a lot of interest, with more than 100 visitors attending funding presentations.
Student Recruitment Services will follow up with prospective students who had booked for the Open Day but didn’t attend, inviting them to one of the two Discover Postgraduate Study information sessions on 6 February and 10April.
