Wednesday 16 January 18:30 until 19:00
Duke's At Komedia, Gardner Street, North Laine, Brighton BN1 1UN
Speaker: Michael Lawrence
Part of the series: Eyes Wide Open Cinema

Michael Lawrence from the School of Media, Film and Music at the University of Sussex will hold a discussion on the queer subtext of ROPE and the historical significance it has garnered over the decades.
ROPE by Alfred Hithcock was released in 1948 as an adaptation from a Patrick Hamilton play - said to be inspired by the true story of the murder of a young man in 1924.
One of Hitchock's first technicolour movies, ROPE was edited to appear as one continuous shot, an innovative technique that only added to the tension in this classic thriller.
Join us for this special presentation with EYES WIDE OPEN where we will discuss the homosexual sub-text of this film which was been widely studied over the subsequent decades.
