Professor Nicholas Royle

Professor Nicholas Royle joins celebrated writers and thinkers at  HowTheLightGetsIn  festival of philosophy and music in June to discuss heroes, myths and the literary theory behind his latest work,Veering.

He is taking part in three sessions at the festival, which runs in tandem with the Hay Festival in Hay-on-Wye.

For “Heroes”, (5 June) he will debating new definitions of heroism alongside civil rights campaigner Peter Tatchell and novelists Nick Harkaway and Sophia McDougall. And with  Booker Prize winner Jim Crace and science fiction writer Justina Robson, he will be exploring “Myths and Modernity” (5 June).

For his session, “Veering” (6 June), Professor Royle will be reading from his work of the same name, and talking about "…what is slippery, unpredictable and chancey in the experience of literature.”
