Mobil 1 Team Sussex the formula student team for the University of Sussex are to be sponsored by Ricardo UK based in Shoreham in this year’s competition. Ricardo sponsorship includes a financial contribution and access to some test facilities in their Shoreham by sea site. This makes Ricardo one of the team’s largest sponsors.

Formula student is a highly exciting event that pits the academic prowess, practical know how, and sheer competitiveness of young minds all over the world.  The objective of the competition is for teams to build a racing vehicle that can complete a range of tasks. These include a range of dynamic and static events. 

Mobil 1 Team Sussex is competing with one of the smallest budgets in the formula student competition. As such the team are excited by this turn of events as it is a great boost which allows the team to move further with its objectives.  The team has already allocated this money towards purchasing lightweight wheels that will make the car more competitive in the competition as minimizing weight is a key aspect of race car engineering.

Currently the team is in the manufacture stage with some of the main components of the car such as the chassis being fabricated.  The team is on a tight schedule to get the car designed, built and tested before the launch event in June. The launch event will be on the 13^th of June this year and the competition will be from the 12 to 15^th of July.

To support the team one can become a member of the Nosecone club. Membership requires a minimum donation of ten pounds this allows you to have your photograph placed on the nosecone of the finished vehicle with five pounds going to the Help for Heroes charity. This is a great way of supporting the university and a good cause.
