Much Ado about Quantum Computers
Wednesday 11 February 18:00 until 19:00
University of Sussex Campus : Fulton Building, Fulton A, University of Sussex
Speaker: Dr Sam Hile
Part of the series: Sussex Universe Public Lecture Series 25-26
Join Dr Sam Hile to examine the excitement surrounding quantum computers and the awesome things they eventually should be able to do. In this beginner-friendly talk, he will discuss how far we are along the path toward a true paradigm shift in computing.
"There's lot of attention on this newly emerging field, and much mainstream media coverage tends toward over-hyping, confusing explanations, or straight-up misrepresenting what's actually going on.”
Sam is a senior researcher within the Sussex Centre for Quantum Technologies, at the forefront of developing the hardware building-blocks for quantum enabled processors, where information is encoded onto the flexible but fragile properties of individual atoms.
"Quantum physics may be complicated and counterintuitive, but the basics of quantum computing don't have to be, and that's great news for the future end users of this transformative technology"
