24hrs to envision a more sustainable future
In this moment of climate and biodiversity crisis, society needs to create, share and deliver visions and pathways to a sustainable and positive future. These visions need to account for the diverse needs of people and nature, they need to be produced urgently if these crises are going to be averted, and they need to be presented in a way that engages society at large. To help meet this need we are running a project called ‘24-hours to envision a sustainable future’ that is combining the expertise of land managers, communities and researchers with writers and artists to produce illustrated stories of transition to sustainable landscapes.
Our project takes inspiration from the 24-hour comic, a long-standing international online event that challenges cartoonists and artists to create a short, illustrated book in a single 24 hour sitting. We will create a participatory version of the 24-hour comic, bringing together a team of creative practitioners led by the brilliant artist and illustrator Daniel Locke with the ideas and perspectives of stakeholders and the public. Land managers, researchers, writers and artists, and communities will collaborate in imagining and sharing a hopeful and sustainable future. We want to invite you to share your expertise to help deliver this project.
