Spring teaching

On this module, you will study a group of theories that offer explanation, understanding and appreciation of the complexity of organisations, their activities and processes of organizing and challenges in assessing these activities and processes. 

The module focuses on the discipline of organisation theory, and also draws from elements of organisational behaviour. You will consider such issues and concerns as in line with the external environment technology, design, and social and power structures.

You will also:

  • investigate concepts and theories of different perspectives
  • develop distinctive thinking tools to help create ideas about organisations and organising
  • study the differences in application of theories.

Assessment

50%: Coursework (Essay)
50%: Examination (Take away paper)

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 117 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
