Professional Assessment of Children (313C8)

15 credits, Level 7 (Masters)

Spring teaching

This is a professional skills-focused module. It covers various professional assessment methods and promotes the critical appraisal of current techniques.

It introduces you to child psychology assessment, including interviews, observation schedules, standardised assessment methods, and questionnaires. Each workshop will introduce a different type of child assessment and will give you the opportunity to try it out for yourself.

Your understanding of the content will be assessed in essays, where you identify the strengths and limitations of real-world professional skills from both an academic perspective and in terms of your own experiences.

However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum. We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
