Autumn teaching

Cognitive psychology is the study of the mind – the science of how we think.

Sessions in this module will give a broad overiew of cognitive psychology. Topics may include:

  • perception
  • attention
  • memory
  • language
  • thinking
  • individual differences in cognition.

You will have the opportunity to deepen you understanding of cognitive psychological research based on academic readings. You will also practice the evaluative and creative problem-solving skills needed to work on cognitive psychological research, and discuss its theoretical and real-world importance.

30%: Coursework (Essay)
70%: Examination (Computer-based examination)

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 22 hours of contact time and about 128 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25.
