Biography

In November 2018, I will be entering my 70th year on Planet Earth. I have been retired for over 10 years. Before this I had a full-time career in Education, culminating in two headships, which both involved me in working with staff, governors, parents and pupils to turn around underperforming schools. For the final nine years of my career, I worked with underperforming schools in England and Wales, as well as working for the National Association of Headteachers (NAHT) on leadership programmes in Primary, Secondary and Special Schools. I was also contracted to work for a variety of government led programmes, including the National Professional Qualification for Headteachers (NPQH) and Leading from the Middle (LfTM).

Qualifications

My academic career began in 1969 when I embarked on a 4 year course leading to a Bachelor of Education degree, awarded by Liverpool University. My main subject was History. I was also awarded my teachers' certificate and Religious teachers' certificate during this programme. In 1980 I studied at Birmingham University for two years and was awarded an Advanced Diploma in Religious Education. Finally, in 1988 I began my Masters Degree programme at Sussex University and successfully completed this course in 1990. The main focus for my studies was curriculum management and development.
