Research

Yong’s research focuses on the field of foreign direct investment and international trade, addressing the internationalisation process of firms and their performance in foreign markets. His recent research has focused on three different streams related to international business and strategy:

• Multinationality, location choice, knowledge transfer and firm performance, and the role of distance between the home and host countries.
• The role of learning by exporting on firm productivity, and why and how exporting firms learn differently from overseas markets.
• How foreign direct investment activity fosters the interdependence of labour markets around the world, and the issues surrounding the wage determinants.
