Frequently asked questions

Q: I am living in Syria. Can I apply?
A: No, unfortunately not. You must be already in the UK.

Q: I am already in the UK, but I am not on the SVPRS (Syrian Vulnerable Persons Relocation Scheme). Can I come?
A: Only if you have been granted Refugee or Humanitarian Protection status.

Q: How do I gain Refugee Status?
A: We cannot help with this unfortunately. Please call Asylum Help UK on 0808 8000 630.

Q: Can you provide accommodation?
A: No, unfortunately not. You must already be resident in the county of East or West Sussex, or in Brighton & Hove.

Q: I do not have proof of my level of English. Can I still apply?
A: Yes, as we will test your English.

Q: Can someone else write my Personal Statement?
A: No. Applications where it is clear that the Personal Statement has been written by someone other than the applicant will be automatically rejected. The Personal Statement must be in your own words, but it is not a test of English.

Q: When is the last date I can apply?
A: We will announce the closing date for January 2018 applications closer to the time.
