Sussex business and informatics experts team up to work in partnership with local digital sector

Academic and Professional Services staff from the Sussex School of Business, Management and Economics (BMEc) and Department of Informatics are collaborating to offer their combined expertise to benefit digital businesses.

The joint initiative aims to support digital business by building a community to drive innovation in the sector. Businesses can benefit by taking advantage of extensive research expertise, developing their staff through a range of relevant Masters degrees and professional development opportunities, and raising their profile among the Sussex community by employing graduates and placement students.

Several existing and successful collaborations were showcased to local digital business leaders by Kate Thorpe (Business Liaison Manager, BMEc), Jo Budd (Business Liaison and Placements Officer, BMEc) and John Carroll (Professor of Computational Linguistics, Informatics) at two events in October: 'Digital and You' in Burgess Hill  - organised as part Mid Sussex District Council's 'Open 4 Business' initiative - and Gatwick Diamond Business' Target Expo in Crawley.

Kate, Jo and John were joined at the former event by BMEc Project Co-ordinators Leah Green and Tara Haden, who have written a comprehensive blog post detailing the expertise shared by several digital business leaders from the region. Read Leah and Tara's blog post, 'How Digital Technology is Shaping the Corporate World'.
