How to apply

In order to be considered for the scholarship, please ensure you have ticked the ‘in care’ box on your UCAS application. The on-course contact for care experienced students will then email you after results day to confirm eligibility.

If you are on a Year Abroad or Placement Year you will not be eligible for the award in that year. This is because students pay reduced tuition fees to the University during these years.

Sponsors

This scholarship has been funded by the philanthropic Rudd Family Foundation, co-founded by long-term supporters of the university Andrew and Jinny Rudd, which supports educational and youth activities in the US and UK. The scholarship is named after Professor Rudd, a Sussex alumnus who graduated with a BSc in Mathematics in 1971, who was formerly chair and president of the US charity Friends of the University of Sussex. The scholarship is intended to support care leaver students with their living costs whilst at Sussex to enable them to make the most of their student experience and fulfil their potential.
