On this module, you’ll develop digital, intellectual and practical skills. You’ll use these skills to make a positive difference in the world and pursue careers in advocacy campaigns.

You’ll learn to:

  • make digital investigations on global supply chains
  • detect and document violations of environmental and social harm 
  • use global regulations and strategic litigation as leverage
  • produce briefs, reports and factsheets to lobby
  • influence diverse audiences
  • design your own campaigns
  • think like a strategic researcher, consultant and activist.

Through interactive lectures and workshops, you’ll analyse and compare case studies of climate and social justice campaigns. You’ll then apply practical skills to real-life scenarios for sustainable futures.

Module learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to conduct digital investigations in order to explore power relations and identify environmental harm and social injustice throughout global supply chains.
  • Identify, discuss and compare successful and unsuccessful case studies of environmental and social justice campaigns.
  • Demonstrate practical skills to make complaints to regulatory bodies, lobby for policy changes and build strategic coalitions.
  • Design creative advocacy campaigns to achieve environmental and social justice.
