On this module, you’ll develop your understanding of human rights, evaluating the ideas behind the law.
You’ll use modern case studies to examine the nature, use and future of rights from different perspectives.
Module learning outcomes
- Demonstrate a deep and systematic understanding of the history, relevance and contemporary significance of human rights
- Explain and critically evaluate different doctrinal and philosophical approaches to human rights
- Systematically appreciate the relationship between theoretical approaches to rights and the practical manifestation of human rights
- Extend and apply theoretical knowledge to human rights, to consider contemporary debates around alternative perspectives on rights
