On this module, you’ll explore key contemporary social issues in relation to social class within the UK.
You’ll examine many themes and issues ranging from:
- the Essex girl to Kate Middleton
- celebrities private estates to living on a council estate
- hunger pains to the hunger for social mobility.
Throughout the module, sociological focus and attention is paid to the minutiae of everyday life. The scholarship of working-class academics will be foregrounded in recognition that credible knowledge is not confined to the ivory tower. Working-class authors, artists and activists will be drawn upon as credible knowledge sources.
