On this module, you’ll explore the role of power, social class and the state in shaping classed experiences of crime.
You’ll examine:
- class inequalities within institutions, such as the judiciary, prison systems and policing
- the ways in which states wield and legitimise power.

- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of sociological theories of social class and power
- Critically analyse the debates and issues relating to the sociology of social class and crime
- Explore and analyse the relationship between power, individual and the state.
- Apply the theoretical themes, concepts & frameworks from the module to empirical examples, to produce written work
