This module provides an overview of:
- the diversity of life in the sea
- key marine habitats
- the adaptations and constraints of living in the world’s largest ecosystem.
You will also be introduced to techniques for studying marine biology and monitoring key habitats and organisms. By the end of the module, you will have developed a broad understanding of the study of life in the seas, both nationally and internationally.

- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of key concepts in the field of marine biology, and an ability to apply them to relevant research techniques
