Autism Across the Lifespan

In this module, you'll study autism spectrum disorder, a neurodevelopmental condition, across all stages of the lifespan – from early childhood into old age.

You'll focus on cognition, whilst contextualising the condition at different stages of development.

You’ll explore areas in childhood and adolescence, including:

  • memory
  • language
  • learning
  • the ‘self’
  • mental health
  • transgender issues

You will also examine adulthood topics including:

  • Bayesian theories of perception
  • maternal autism
  • memory
  • sensory
  • emotional processing

You will finish with addressing some of the consequences of ageing in autism.

Module learning outcomes

  • Systematically understand the key concepts, including theories, models, and methods, of autism spectrum condition.
