On this module, you’ll explore issues in our relationship with food.
Taking a psychobiological perspective, you’ll focus on topics such as:
- appetite control
- constructs of hunger and satiety
- flavour perception
- concepts of food craving and addiction
- food choice and preference
- the non-nutritive effects of foods (including nutraceuticals) on mood and cognition
- the rise of obesity and disordered eating.
Module learning outcomes
- Critically evaluate current concepts of the psychology of eating
- Communicate a specific topic relating to appetite to the class
- Evaluate the future direction and/or impact of a particular topic relating to appetite
