This module will give you an insight into aetiology, assessment, treatment, and service provision in clinical psychology in the UK.
Topics covering the following are presented mainly by practising clinical psychologists with expertise in these areas:
- adult psychological disorders
- child and adolescent problems
- the neuropsychology of psychological disorders
- learning disabilities.
At the end of the module you should be able to describe theories of the aetiology of a selected range of disorders. You’ll compare treatment used across a scope of disorders and client groups.
Module learning outcomes
- Understand the process and function of formulation in clinical psychology
- Extend and apply knowledge of key roles of a clinical psychologist in the assessment and treatment of psychological disorders and in service provision in the UK
- Systematically understand, critically evaluate, and connect theories of the etiology of a selected range of psychological disorders.
- Systematically understand and compare treatments across a range of client groups.
