Biography

Leonard Raphael, Bachelors of Computer Engineering (EVITech, Finland), M.Sc ICT Entrepreneurship (KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden), PhD (Durham University).

Leonard is an internationally experienced Innovation Management, Project Management & 'Information Communication Technology' (ICT) professional through a progressive career spanning over 17 years in rapidly changing world-class telecommunications, financial and educational environment. Leonard worked with TeliaSonera now named Telia Company for many years in various capacities both as a Network Manager and IP Transport Network Unit Head respectively. In recent years, he has also worked in many Consultancy roles for other multinational companies such as; Ericsson, Vodafone, Nationwide Building Society, TATA, etc. Leonard is multi-lingual, and his country experience includes; the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, Nigeria, and Nepal. He joined SPRU in June 2017.

Leonard graduated with a PhD in Business from Durham University Business School in 2017. His doctorate was on the "Fuzzy Front End of Innovation Process Management in High Technology Companies: Knowledge Sharing in Virtual Communities of Practice.” This research focused on how new knowledge is created and managed at the front-end stages of innovation. His PhD research also aimed to understand how the formation of dispersed collaboration within a virtual team informs the front end of the New Product Development process and how dispersed collaboration within a virtual team might be used as an iterative tacit process which makes use of uncodified knowledge to achieve Fuzzy Front End innovation outcomes.
