David Eggleton received his initial education in Physics with Management at King's College London before achieving an MSc Physics at the University of Sussex within the Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics group.

In addition to his scientific competencies he has always been interested in the application of management concepts to the scientific and technological challenges of our day. David's work focusses on the leadership and governance of major scientific projects and collaborations. His PhD thesis examined these issues in the context of the Large Hadron Collider, the Tevatron, and associated experimental collaborations. These projects are termed 'megascience projects' although there is significant overlap between this work and the emerging field of research infrastructures.

David recently completed his PhD in Technology and Innovation Management at SPRU, which necessitated fieldwork in Switzerland and the United States. Among David's recent achievements is the organisation of a new SPRU Training course that ran in June 2018 and his recent involvement in research infrastructures. Research infrastructures is an emerging field of study of significant interest at the European level. This is an area where David's work on megascience projects translates effectively into the 'single site research infrastructure' domain. You can view David's CV here
