Excellent RAE result for Geography
Geography undertakes research which is rated as world-leading, according to the latest national assessment of research quality.
The Geography Department has achieved a result placing it in the top 13 in the subject nationally.
This means that 95% of our research activity in Geography is rated as being world-leading, internationally excellent or internationally recognised. In a ranking based on the proportion of staff rated at the highest 3* or 4* grades, we are joint 10th nationally. Sussex is ranked alongside departments such as Manchester, Exeter and Nottingham.
Overall the University of Sussex has over 90% of its research as internationally recognised or better, and was ranked overall in the top 30 in the UK.
