Climate change and the global water cycle

Context

The global water cycle is central to the Earth System and to life on Earth. The system is changing in response to climate change and human development. Changes in the quantity, quality and distribution of water in time and space have profound implications for ecosystems and supplies of freshwater around the world. Research at Sussex addresses fundamental questions about the characteristics and dynamics of the global hydrological system and their consequences for our life-support systems.  Our work is inter-disciplinary and focuses on

  1. Climate change impacts on hydro-ecological systems
  2. Rainfall variability
  3. Monitoring the water cycle from space
  4.
