Cristina Palacio Cano, Business School Student of the Year 2019 - Undergraduate Year 2

UPDATE at 25 March:

Due to the closure of campus amidst efforts to contain Coronavirus (Covid 19), we are postponing the Business School Awards 2020 event scheduled for 23 April 2020.

We will let you know when we have a new date for the event. Currently, we are unable to confirm when this may be, but the Awards are an important annual event for the Business School.

Thank you to those of you who have already submitted award nominations or booked an event ticket - we will hold these details, and will relaunch the Awards at a future point.

Nominations for the Business School Awards 2020 and event booking are now open to students and staff. You can nominate here.

The awards are a great opportunity to celebrate our students, academics and professional services staff who truly embody the innovative spirit and values of the Business School.

The evening ceremony will take place at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA) on Thursday, 23 April 2020. Doors open at 5.30pm with the event starting at 6.15pm. It will include performances from our talented students, a guest speaker, and other entertainment.

Last year, staff and students submitted more than 600 nominations. The award winners were announced at the 2019 ACCA event.

Cristina Palacio Cano (Economics), who won Student of the Year 2019 - Undergraduate Year 2, said:

“Winning the award meant everything to me. It made me realise all the support I have around me, especially when university can feel like a very individual experience.

“People definitely should submit a nomination - it’s an easy process, and it has an incredible effect on the nominees. It was so exciting to be part of the Awards and really helped me stay motivated for my end-of-term exams.”

Dean of the Business School, Steve McGuire is a sponsor of the Awards. He said:

“Our Awards ceremony is a great celebration of our individual and collective School achievements over the 2019/20 academic year. It shows the best of our Business School community and is a chance to meet up with colleagues, friends and peers. Some of our talented students also perform, alongside other entertainment.  It is the highlight of our School social calendar. I really look forward to seeing you there.

Cristina added:

“It’s such a fun event. You get to see your lecturers outside class. It’s also important to support your friends!”

You don’t have to take part in the Award nominations to attend the event on 23 April, just book your free ticket here. Book early to avoid disappointment, as tickets go fast.
