Cut living costs with a commute

We know the cost of living is a big consideration for students.

One of the biggest perks of living at home while studying is the chance to save money on accommodation.

Many of our students find commuting is a cost-effective way to pursue study while not missing out on social life and student experience.

Travel discounts

You can benefit from a range of discounts as a commuter student.

  • Buses

If you’re commuting within Brighton and Hove, you can verify as a student on the Brighton & Hove app and get 34% off bus fares.

To find out more visit Brighton & Hove Buses.

  • Trains

You can get discounts on trains to and from Falmer station with a UniZone ticket or buy a 16-25 railcard (for travel around the UK).

You’ll save an average of £4.88 per journey with the 16-25 railcard, which is available to mature students.

You can also save money on trains by booking your train in advance, as prices go up closer to your travel date.

  • Cycling

Every student gets a 25% discount on Beryl Bike bundles and passes. Beryl Bikes are a cheap, convenient and healthy way to get around Brighton.

Just download the Beryl Bikes app, use your Sussex email address and follow the instructions.

Pedal Point @ the Travel Hub on our campus provides information and discounts on commuting via public transport, cycling, and car sharing. It also sells refurbished secondhand bikes and cycling accessories.
