Our Inspires 3 (I3) programme is designed to support a cohort of 15 students over three years, from Year 9 to 11, helping them navigate their educational journey with confidence and ambition.

Inspires 3 (I3) programme

This initiative focuses on students registered as Free School Meals (FSM) or Pupil Premium (PP), with additional mitigating factors considered.

Programme goals

Through tailored interventions and engaging activities, I3 aims to:

  • strengthen scholastic engagement
  • increase confidence and sense of belonging
  • explore potential GCSE options and pathways beyond school through a series of academic-led sessions
  • highlight the connection between personal development and future progression
  • improve attainment outcomes
  • develop essential study skills.

At the core of I3 is a progressive focus on developing study skills and building confidence, ensuring students feel well-equipped for their next steps and able to make informed decisions about GCSE and further study choices.


Programme overview

  • Year 9: Options

    These activities help Year 9 students reflect on their strengths, interests, and future goals. Through one-to-one careers guidance and subject tasters, the programme encourages thoughtful decision-making around GCSE options and future pathways.

  • Year 10: Study support

    This year of activity supports Year 10 students to develop effective study habits and independent learning strategies. On-campus workshops are closely linked to the GCSE curriculum, helping students build confidence in managing their studies and preparing for future assessments.

    Events run through the school year, including:

    • Winter lecture; Wednesday 17 December 2025; University of Sussex
    • English skills day; TBC; University of Sussex
    • Maths skills day; TBC; University of Sussex
    • Celebration Event; Wednesday 17 June 2026; University of Sussex.
  • Year 11: Revision

    This year helps Year 11 students build confidence with revision and exam prep through on-campus and in-school workshops, while gently supporting their next steps in learning.

    Events run through the school year, including:

    • study, exam and self-management skills day; Thursday 11 September 2025; University of Sussex
    • study, exam and self-management skills day; Tuesday 16 September 2025; University of Sussex
    • revision skills; term 1/term 2; school-based
    • transition support; term 5/term 6; school-based.
