The Department of Mathematics at the University of Sussex invites applications for the position of Lecturer A (T&S) in Mathematics. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise and teaching experience in one or more of the following areas
- data science
- financial mathematics
- foundation year
The successful candidate will be an independent, enthusiastic, and committed academic with a top teaching track record who is a team player and would enjoy working in a young, dynamic and growing department.
As part of the interview process, short-listed candidates will be required to give a teaching presentation of a given topic. The identity of such short-listed candidates will therefore be known to those who attend the presentation and the names of short-listed candidates will have been available to members of the Department of Mathematics. The Department offers BSc and MMath courses in Mathematics (also with minors), a Foundation Year, and several MSc courses, covering mathematics, finance and data science.
In the 2021 research excellence framework (REF), 98% per cent of our research outputs were classified as world-leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*).
Current research in mathematics at Sussex is grouped into Analysis and Partial Differential Equations, Geometry and Topology, Mathematics Applied to Biology, Mathematical Physics, Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing and Probability and Statistics.
