Green and welcoming, our campus offers you the perfect, safe environment to study abroad. Choose how you want your week to be with our free campus activities, including welcome events to help you settle into life at Sussex and meet other students.

Health and wellbeing

We want you to feel at home as soon as you step onto campus. That’s why we’re here to welcome you when you arrive and support your time here.

  • Sport facilities and activities designed to be social and open to all.
  • Our campus, which recently won a green space award for the third year in a row, is nestled in the South Downs National Park, where there’s no shortage of open space for you to explore and fresh air to enjoy.

Explore Sussex

During your study abroad, you’ll have the opportunity to experience countryside to coast. You can go for day trips on the weekends and visit the best places in Sussex:

  • Hike along the Seven Sisters Country Park and see picturesque views of the coast.
  • Discover the neighbouring, historical town of Lewes with its antique shops, farmers markets and medieval streets.
  • Take to the skies and gently glide up The British Airways i360 to admire the city of Brighton up high.
  • Dive into water sports with kayak, canoe and paddle board activities available at nearby Cuckmere Haven.

History and culture

Step into Sussex’s past, and learn about the rich heritage of Sussex. While you’re studying with us, you can explore local museums, castles, landmarks and experience our vibrant events celebrating our diverse community:

  • Take a tour around Brighton’s Royal Pavilion, an exotic palace in the centre of the city with a colourful history.
  • Experience hands-on science & discovery at The Observatory Science Centre, a world-famous astronomical observatory.
  • Discover one of England’s most significant historic sites and learn about the 1066 Battle of Hastings.
  • Join the vibrant celebrations at Brighton Pride Festival, the UK’s biggest, boldest and best pride event.

Connect & create memories

We run welcome events when you first arrive and regular cultural events, such as our One World Week, celebrating our diverse community – so you experience life to the full at Sussex.

  • Sign up to our Buddy Scheme to help you settle in. Match with current Sussex students based on your interests, course or language and have regular contact with your buddy.
  • At the weekends and during the holidays, you can also explore the UK and Europe, with London just a short train journey from Brighton.
  • Immerse yourself in activities including quizzes, film nights, sports, language and culture cafes.

Summer School
