Autumn teaching
On this module, you’ll explore the study of history through critical engagement with recent historical controversies. Focusing on important past events, you’ll gain an understanding of the complexity of the historical record. You’ll also start to understand the challenges associated with its interpretation.
You’ll think critically about the discipline of history and the nature of historical enquiry. You’ll also study how historians have formulated and evidenced their arguments. By doing so, you’ll learn to articulate your own ideas and arguments.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 30 hours of contact time and about 120 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
