Mathematical Methods for Physics 3 (F3205)

Autumn teaching
This module teaches you mathematical techniques that are useful in physics, in particular those relating to the solution of differential equations. You’ll gain experience of mathematical modelling of physical problems.
Topics include:
- fourier series
- ordinary differential equations
- linear algebra
- fourier transform
- series solutions of differential equations
- partial differential equations.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
