HCT Lab: Human-Centred Technology Lab
The HCT Lab focuses on the learning of programming and inclusive technologies. Current research projects include: CONVER-SE - Conversational Programming in Smart Environments
Our Creative Technology research is concerned with the interfaces between humans and digital technology and how these are changing. We investigate interaction in the broadest sense, considering it in relation to digital technologies, connected physical artifacts, people’s experience and their practices with mobile, immersive, multi-sensory, ubiquitous and pervasive computing.

The Lab studies how representational systems shape cognition and create new representational systems and technology to enhance how we think and learn.
Our goal is to research and create novel, creative and useful interactive systems through innovative applications that draw on basic science. Our recent focus has been on creating fog-based displays, acoustic levitation, mid-air haptics and acoustic metamaterials.
The MTL was founded in 2000 and specialises in high-level digital strategy and creative solutions, app design and development, digital broadcast technologies and content creation and distribution.
The SCHI Lab studies how multisensory experiences makes a difference on how we design and in the future interact with technology. It explores tactile, gustatory, and olfactory experiences as novel interaction modalities.
Product Design research at Sussex focuses on Participatory design and Animal-Computer Interaction. It is interdisciplinary and at the crossroads of social sciences and design.
