Professor Fiona Leach presented the findings and impact from the Widening Participation in Higher Education in Ghana and Tanzania research project to the Conference Lessons from a Decade’s Research on Poverty: Innovation, Engagement and Impact. This was the10^th anniversary conference of the ESRC-DFID Joint Fund for Poverty Alleviation Research, Pretoria, South Africa, March 2016.

This three-day conference, hosted by the Impact Initiative, brought together researchers, knowledge brokers, research commissioners and others to reflect on and share lessons from more than 130 research projects supported by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) since 2005.
