Religion

Sussex anthropologists have worked in a variety of religious traditions, though primarily the 'world religions' - Christianity, Hinduism, Islam. Our research on religion has examined the relationship between religious practices and political processes, the significance of 'new' religious movements and reformist practices, and the relationships between religion, morality and economic processes.

Current projects include Jon Mitchell's work on performance, religious experience and the senses in popular Catholicism.
