NHIR Applied Research Collaboration Kent, Surrey and Sussex (ARC-KSS)
Applied Research Collaborations (ARCs) support applied health and care research that responds to, and meets, the needs of local populations and local health and care systems. The NIHR ARC Kent Surrey and Sussex (ARC KSS) is one of 15 ARCs across England, part of a £135 million investment by the NIHR to improve the health and care of patients and the public. Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is the host Trust for the ARC KSS working collaboratively with the Universities of Kent, Surrey and Sussex and member organisations to deliver its objectives.
Sussex Mental Health Research Centre (SuMHeR)
Our innovative research enhances mental health understanding and improves the provision of mental health care. Our mission is to translate cutting-edge research into actionable insights that shape mental health policy and practice, ultimately improving the lives of individuals and communities. Our key research focus is the development and testing of innovative psychological interventions to treat mental ill-health in children, adolescents, working-age adults and older people. This research is supported by significant funding and is carried out in randomised trials at various sites. Our researchers have expertise in mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, autism, psychosis, substance use, youth mental health and dementia.
Research and Developement at the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT)
Our research helps us to explore and improve new and innovative treatments and therapies for people who use our services. In line with the NHS constitution, all patients who use our services should be given the opportunity to receive information about research studies that may be relevant to them, unless they opt-out of receiving such information. We put patients at the centre of what we do by developing our research in collaboration with people who have lived experience of mental health problems and/or learning disabilities.
