About our classes

We run an extensive group exercise programme, from high-energy sessions to low-impact and mindful movement.

Group exercise classes are free for student gold and silver members. Price per class for bronze student members is £4.40.

Classes are subject to change and you can view our live timetable online to check available classes ahead of booking.

N.B. The timetable will be reduced outside of term time.

Please ensure that you are punctual and ready to start on time. It is recommended that you bring water to all classes.

      • Aerial circus beginners

        You will learn skills on the trapeze, rope and silk with a qualified aerial practitioner and in a supportive environment.

      • Aerial yoga

        Thursdays, 10.45am-11.45am

        Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

        Move between yoga postures using a low-hanging wide aerial silk, hung like a hammock, to give flowing movements that relax and stretch the body.

        We recommend you wear long sleeves and long trousers but this isn’t essential. Please wear clothing with no zips or buckles, and remove watches and jewellery before each class.

      • Badminton Beginners and Early Players

        Fridays, 5pm-6pm

        Venue: Sport Centre Hall 2

        For beginners and lower-level players wanting to learn some stroke structure, doubles positioning and improve your racket skills. The sessions will consist of 20 minutes of drills, and 40 minutes of match play coaching.

      • Body conditioning

        Wednesdays, 5.05pm-5.50pm

        A high energy class using a mix of simple martial arts moves mixed with traditional aerobics exercises to create a full body workout. Kick, punch and squat away the calories with a fat burning and stress releasing fun workout. Suitable for all abilities & fitness levels, no martial arts experience needed.

        A session that focuses on an all-over body workout. This class aims to get you stronger, leaner, help you burn more calories and is guaranteed to leave you feeling like you have had a good session. The class is aimed at all levels from the beginner through to the advanced trainer.

      • Contemporary and Creative Dance

        Mondays, 5.05pm-5.50pm

        Learn set contemporary dance technique sequences and have the opportunity to explore more creative and free tasks that allow you to develop your own creative movement ideas in a collaborative space. Suitable for all levels.

      • Core and Stretch

        Saturdays, 11.05am-11.55am

        Instructor: Sussex Sport Fitness Team

        Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

        This low impact class delivers two classes in one, the perfect compliment for each other. Floor based bodyweight movements will target the abdominals, lower back, glutes and hips to improve posture, stability and core strength. Full body stretches follow, focusing on improving flexibility and mobility through a mixture of static and dynamic stretches. Come away feeling like you’ve worked hard and then relaxed through a range of body movements.

      • Flowetic

        Flowetic is a beautiful class combining dance, toning and strengthening exercises alongside stretching and relaxation… it’s dance fitness, but not as you know it!

      • High Intensity Circuit Training

        Fridays, 1.15pm-2pm

        Venue: Active Arches

        High intensity functional circuit class focusing on strength, fitness and endurance, that will challenge you! Uses a variety of equipment, as well as floor and bodyweight exercises.

        Cycle to the beat of the music or speed through challenging intervals. This high intensity class will help you burn calories, energise the body and is suitable for all abilities.

      • Metabolic training

        Instructor: Sussex Sport Fitness Team

        Venue: Falmer Sports Complex Fitness Room

        An advanced class centred on strength training to produce a high intensity class that trains both the muscular and cardiovascular system to create a smart training solution. The class uses barbells, dumbbells, ropes, kettlebells and medicine balls and requires a good experience of free weight training. The class is a great calorie burner, great fun and is a challenging workout. Suitable for those with previous lifting experience and those wanting to push themselves.

      • Pilates

        Mat-based Pilates focusing on improving flexibility and strength for the whole body. Slow, controlled movements for maximum effect and relaxation. This class is suitable for beginners and improvers.

        PiYO combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. We rev up the speed to deliver a true low-impact workout that leaves your body looking long, lean and defined.

        For those looking for an energetic workout that involves a mix of Boxing, Kickboxing and self defence.

        A progression from the small group training. There is still a focus on perfecting technique, but these classes start to add intensity to the lifts. A perfect introduction to those wanting to learn more about weightlifting and adding intensity to their workouts.

      • Staff only Slow Flow Yoga

        Slow Flow Yoga is a gentle and mindful practice designed to help you move with intention, awareness and ease. In this class, we will flow through a series of postures at a slower, more deliberate pace, allowing time to connect each movement with breath. The slower rhythm encourages deeper body awareness and a calm, focused mind. Each class will begin with some gentle breathing, followed by a slow movement sequence and finish with 10 minutes of relaxation.

      • Staff only Small Weights Workout

        Staff focused weights class focusing on strengthening the whole body for everyday life. Lifting, pulling, pushing and strengthening the core using kettlebells, dumbbells, medicine balls, powerbags and more.

        All abilities welcome as there will be options for all.

      • Strength and core

        Tuesdays, 12.05pm-12.50pm

        Instructor: Gemma M

        Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

        Strength and core works on switching on all our deep stabilising muscles so that we improve balance, core control and is great for injury prevention. The movements are slow and strong to allow for correct technique and form. You will be challenged in a positive way and will end the class feeling like you have not only worked hard but achieved a lot.

      • Women’s weightlifting

        Instructor: Sussex Sport Fitness Team

        Venue: Sport Centre Fitness Room

        For all self-identifying women who are either new to weightlifting or are looking to build confidence in a supportive environment. These sessions will cover key movement patterns such as squats, pushes, pulls hinges and lunges (with a specific focus on mastering the squat and deadlift). Accessory movements will be taught alongside these key lifts, with progression and regression as needed. Please note this is more of a ‘learning to lift’ class, rather than an intensive small group PT session.

      • Yoga

        Based on flowing sequences and precise alignment, linked to full rhythmic breathing that will open up the body and mind. This class will improve your strength, stamina and flexibility.

        Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

        Rooted in the connection between breath and movement, this class will invite you to explore flowing sequences that build strength, flexibility and balance – while also honouring space for rest and reflection. Variations will be offered throughout to encourage you to listen to your own needs and move at your own pace. Find your unique flow guided by breath, grounded in choice and open to possibility.

      • Zumba

        Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind class that will blow you away.
