Research

My principal interests are in cross-cultural psychology. I have completed a series of studies focussed upon aspects of managerial behaviour in more than 60 nations. More recently, I have examined indigenous forms of social influence such as wasta, guanxi and jeitinho. My current work is focused upon cultural differences in the ways in which anger and depression are handled. I also study variations in style of responding to survey questions across cultures and the effects that such variations have upon the valid interpretation of cultural differences.
