Preparing for your interview
It’s important to research and reflect upon the reasons why you want to become a teacher. You might want to revisit our advice and information on the application process, including previous school experience, Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses and information on references.
Please complete a suitability to teach form prior to your interview, you can find this here.
During your interview you will be asked to deliver a short teaching task or presentation. In order to prepare, see the relevant task information below for your subject.

You will deliver a short presentation (limited to no more than five minutes) on a lesson you might teach introducing a particular artist, craft maker or designer of your choice to yr9 pupils (age 13-14). Use the artist, craft maker or designer to illustrate the strength of your subject knowledge and your ability to deliver an engaging and informative introductory lesson. There should be an element of challenge to the presentation and consider how you might ensure that your audience knows more about the particular artist, craft maker or designer by the end of the lesson. Include any activities you would like the students to do and feel free to use objects and artefacts to support the presentation.
You should also bring with you a portfolio showing the range of your own art practice.
The whole interview will last up to 40 minutes and there will be time for you to ask questions at the end.
