PGCE places at Sussex

We have Core, University-led PGCE places for 2026/27 in the following subjects:

Primary

Secondary

We offer a two-year part-time route in all PGCE courses except Computing and Business.

School Choice PGCE (SCPGCE) and Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship places (PGTA)

All School Choice and PGTA trainees receive the same support and training from the University as our Core PGCE trainees. Please check with the Lead Partner School if you are considering part time, as this may not be possible with all School Choice PGCE or Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship places.

The Lead Partner Schools manage School Choice PGCE & Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship recruitment and administration for a group of other schools where candidates are placed for their training.

All Primary courses are for 5-11 age range (Key Stage 1 and 2). Most Secondary courses are for the 11-16 age range (Key Stage 3 and 4).  Where a Secondary course is for the 14-19 age range (Key Stage 4 and 5) this is indicated.
