Jill Craigie: Film Pioneer

Film director Jill Craigie on set

Principal Investigator: Lizzie Thynne

Public engagement activities for the AHRC funded project Jill Craigie: Film Pioneer culminate in March 2022 with a major contribution to a season of screenings, events and DVD release of digital restorations by the BFI, 'The Camera is Ours: Britain's Women Documentary Makers.' Thynne and former Research Fellow on the project, Hollie Price, now a lecturer at Keele, presented the feature documentary from the project, Independent Miss Craigie in March, which also features on the DVD. Drawing on the project's research at the BFI National Archive, The LSE Women's Library and unseen papers donated to the project, Thynne has, in addition, curated an exhibition, 'Jill Craigie: Film Pioneer', opening 28 February for 3 months at the Mezzanine Gallery, BFI Southbank. The project's documentary and exhibition contextualize and enhance this BFI programme and DVD.
