Autumn teaching

This module introduces you to the skills that underpin science, and the research as it is understood by scientists.

In addition to literary and numerical skills, you will learn about the motivation for research, how we conceive and conduct experiments, and set science in a wider social context.

You will look at research ethics, the ethical principles and laws that govern animal and human experimentation, and the social questions raised by contemporary science.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.

We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
