Autumn teaching

On this module, you’ll examine the role of psychological research in supporting education.

You’ll explore topics such as:

  • children’s cognitive development
  • socio-motivational factors for learning
  • children’s academic development in key curriculum areas
  • controversies in education.

You’ll have the opportunity to reflect on and discuss these topics through workshops.

Throughout the module, you’ll consider the impact of psychological research on:

  • the design of practical strategies
  • supporting learning and socio-emotional development.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
