Researching STEM (899S5)

15 credits, Level 6

Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll build on your existing knowledge of communicating STEM.

You’ll carry out a small-scale research project in an area of chosen interest, spending time in a school setting.

With a particular focus on school aged pupils (11-18), you’ll develop the skills and understanding to:

  • explain STEM concepts to a range of audiences
  • inspire more Life Sciences, Physics and Maths undergraduates to consider a career in teaching
  • develop students’ written communication and research skills
  • encourage STEM students to engage with social science literature.

By the end of the module, you’ll have a greater understanding of:

  • the complex role of a teacher
  • how to communicate with pupils of school age.
