On this module, you’ll study information systems and data analytics in the field of accounting and finance.

You’ll explore four specific areas:

  • the role of information systems and data analytics in the context of business processes, transaction cycles, and internal controls
  • core data management concepts fundamental to the design of modern information systems in accounting and finance
  • the extraction, visualisation, and communication of key trends and insights from large datasets in the context of accounting and finance
  • recent developments in information systems and data analytics, and the impact this has on the accounting profession.

Throughout the module you’ll be given practical examples using a leading enterprise information system. You’ll use modern data analytics software, with relevant accounting and finance data sets.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
