Communicating Politics (L2155)

15 credits, Level 5

Spring teaching

Communication is power.

On this module, you’ll explore how political ideas are shared and how they shape what people can do in politics. You’ll explore how political action is an active and debated process in everyday life as well as politics.

You’ll analyse:

  • how political messages are communicated
  • how they’re repurposed and subverted
  • the influence of today’s transforming political and technological landscape.

You’ll analyse a wide range of primary sources, including speeches, news reports, TV shows and memes.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.

We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
