Conservation in Practice (C1113)

Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll explore conservation management in western Europe. You’ll focus on how different habitats are maintained and the challenges different species face.

You’ll learn about conservation efforts on a broader scale. This includes the roles of NGOs, governments and society in protecting biodiversity. Through lectures, seminars and guest speaker sessions, you’ll gain insights into real-world conservation work and career opportunities in the field.

You’ll also visit local nature reserves to observe conservation practices and survey techniques in action.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
