Spring teaching

A molecular understanding of human health and disease and the mode of action of drugs is crucial for the development of new drugs with:

• improved potency
• reduced side effects.

It also underpins the development of personalised medicine. This is about giving the right treatment to the right people at the right time. It’s also a move away from the ‘one size fits all’ approach to the treatment of patients with a particular condition.

On this module, you’ll cover all the aspects of the drug discovery process. You’ll discuss the challenges of improving drug treatment of example diseases with an unmet medical need.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
